At Uncle Kimo’s Scuba Adventures, every dive, every wave, and every moment spent beneath the surface is inspired by someone truly extraordinary: my son, Christian Garner. This business was born from his passion for the ocean, his love for adventure, and his incredible spirit of kindness and generosity.
Christian wasn’t just passionate about diving—he lived and breathed it. From a young age, he was drawn to the ocean, captivated by its beauty and mystery. I’ll never forget the way his eyes lit up when he talked about exploring the underwater world. It was as if the ocean called to him, and he answered with open arms and an open heart.
But Christian’s legacy isn’t just about his love for diving; it’s about the way he lived his life—with compassion, selflessness, and a deep desire to make the world a better place. One of the most unforgettable moments of his life happened when he was just 8 years old. He had been saving money in his little lockbox for something special—something he had been dreaming of for months. But when he heard about a charity collecting donations to buy Christmas presents for kids who would otherwise go without, he didn’t hesitate.
Without a second thought, Christian donated every dollar he had saved. And that wasn’t enough for him—he convinced his siblings, his mom, and me to do the same. As his father, I couldn’t have been prouder. That moment showed me the kind of person Christian was: someone who put others before himself, someone who saw the world not for what it was but for what it could be.
Christian’s generosity and love for the ocean continue to inspire everything we do at Uncle Kimo’s Scuba Adventures. His memory lives on in our commitment to creating meaningful experiences for our divers, in our dedication to environmental stewardship, and in the way we treat every guest as part of our ohana.
One of the ways we honor Christian’s legacy is through the Christian Garner Pay-It-Forward Fund, a special initiative that reflects his spirit of giving. Every dollar donated to this fund is used to spread kindness in ways Christian would have loved. We place the funds in cards with his photo and story, then pass them along anonymously to brighten someone’s day—just as Christian would have done.
Christian may no longer be with us, but his light continues to shine in every dive, every laugh, and every act of kindness inspired by his memory. He taught me that life is about more than just living—it’s about giving, exploring, and finding joy in the little things.
